Alexandria City Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, or retrieve official booking records. Contact the responsible public office directly for those services.
Official Alexandria Record Contacts
Use the route that matches the question. Alexandria is an independent city, so the central local detention contact is the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office and its William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center, not an Alexandria County jail.
- Alexandria Sheriff’s Office: Sheriff Sean Casey; 2003 Mill Road, Alexandria, VA 22314; 703-746-4114; alexandriasheriff@alexandriava.gov.
- William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center: 2001 Mill Road, Alexandria, VA 22314. General information is available 24 hours at 703-746-4099. For current detention, charge, bond, and court-date information, call 703-746-5000 daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the after-hours line is 703-746-5050.
- City public-record requests: submit through the City’s FOIA page and GovQA portal, email FOIArequests@alexandriava.gov, call 703-746-3750, or write to the City Attorney’s Office, 123 N Pitt St, Fifth Floor, Suite 575, Alexandria, VA 22314. A normal response is five working days, excluding closure days, with a possible seven additional working days; charges are actual costs only.
- Alexandria Police Department Information Services: 3600 Wheeler Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304; APD non-emergency 703-746-4444; Information Services 703-746-6200. Counter hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and it is closed Wednesday, weekends, and holidays.
- Alexandria courts: General District Court criminal clerk, 703-746-4030, 520 King St, Second Floor; Circuit Court clerk, 703-746-4044, 520 King St, Room 307.
For a person seeking only their own City arrest record, APD’s separate in-person procedure requires two government IDs and a $10 fee. It is not a general public-record or booking-photo procedure.
Choose the Appropriate Lookup Path
- For an adult booking record or initial-intake photograph, start with the home-page record-access guide and use a focused City FOIA request for an existing responsive record.
- For someone held at the Adult Detention Center now, use the Sheriff’s current-custody telephone route above. The Sheriff also links Virginia VINELink for custody and release notifications.
- For a warrant question, see Most Wanted Fugitives. APD does not discuss warrant information by telephone, and its official route is in person at Police Headquarters.
- For recent activity, read the home-page explanation of Alexandria’s official records paths. The City has no official public Sheriff booking feed or web roster, and APD’s crime database is delayed incident data, not a current-custody tool.
- For a court outcome after booking, check the appropriate Alexandria court and the Virginia case-information system. Charges are accusations, not proof of guilt.
- For someone sentenced into Virginia custody, use the VADOC locator. For federal custody use the BOP Inmate Locator; for civil immigration detention use the ICE locator.
